Role Purpose
To conduct research and / or scholarly activities and / or consultancy contributing to the university profile and to undertake management and leadership duties commensurate with the role.
Teaching & Learning Responsibilities
- Undertake teaching, postgraduate by research supervision duties and the associated functions of preparation, assessment, moderation and curriculum development. Students will be assigned no more than 140 contact hours per 4‑month block, subject to revision by management. Exceeding 140 contact hours will be remunerated accordingly.
- Responsible for the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
- Provide academic as well as pastoral advice to students : be available for academic counselling, provide extra help and guidance to weak students, maintain high commitment to student engagement and graduate success, and supervise student projects, field trips and placements where appropriate.
- Responsible in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments : produce, collate and moderate quality exam papers; invigilate class tests and final exams, ensuring proper examination environment and preventing academic dishonesty.
- Responsible for the development, planning and implementation of a high‑quality curriculum : participate in ongoing curriculum, syllabus and course structure reviews through Subject Specialist Groups; develop and drive new pedagogical approaches supported by online learning and real‑life industry projects; recommend and develop new programmes supported by market data including competitive intelligence.
- Collaborate with the faculty / centre for operational planning, including workload planning, timetabling, student retention programme, and institutional development activities and compliances matters.
Research, Scholarship & Consultancy
Publish quality peer‑reviewed outputs and generate and secure intellectual property including patents in accordance with the Annual Research Plan.Maintain a research grant portfolio, work individually or jointly to formulate research proposals to secure external research grants.Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with external research teams, institutions and industry in related areas and disciplines.Participate in research degree supervision and examination.Participate in local and international conferences as presenter or organising panel.Mentor early‑stage researchers, sharing knowledge and skills or other support for the individual to develop their research profile and activities.Other Tasks
Work in collaboration with sales & marketing to achieve targeted student enrolment, including organising school talks, open days, programme previews and academic counselling.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.Requirements
Education / Academic Qualification : PhD / Doctorate or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant academic area, or any other qualification as required by MQA.Language Skills : Good command of English language.IT Skills : MS Office / Learning Management System; knowledge in any other IT software related to teaching and learning; data analytical skill is an added advantage.Application Questions
