We are looking for a data scientist to lead the development of data solutions to solve business problems through data automation, visualisation, and advanced analytics. You will work to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data while helping to define and implement data science solutions. This entails understanding and implementing modern machine learning methods and data driven decisions, applying them to maritime mobility data, and providing convincing evidence of their effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Acquire deep understanding of the business problems and translate them into appropriate business solutions.
- Engage in both exploratory analysis and predictive models to identify data trends and anomalies
- Explore new hypotheses, build deep learning algorithms and be responsible to maintain model quality over time
- Apply rigorous statistical techniques to validate findings and quantify uncertainty in models
- Communicate findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Design, execute and monitor experiments
- Identify trends and opportunities from the data and influence product roadmaps
- Develop dashboards to track relevant metrics
- Develop and maintain a data pipeline of large-scale data indexing
- Work with engineers to improve the data collection process
- Document analytical findings for technical teams, executives, or publication
- Play role in knowledge development and mentorship to junior colleagues
Qualifications
At least Bachelor Degree in Actual Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or relevant field, and minimum 3 years of data science experienceStrong statistical foundation — able to reason about assumptions, limitations, and applicability of modeling approachesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to analyse and research data to identify and resolve complex issues relating to behavioural and mobility analyticsProficient in Python and SQL languagesExperience in using machine learning libraries such as Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Keras or PytorchExperience in model hyper-parameter tuning, embeddings and feature engineeringExperience in natural language process (NLP), statistical modeling, network analysis, and data mining techniquesAdded advantage if familiar with Automatic Identification System (AIS) dataAdded advantage if familiar with Mobility Analytics Use CasesAdded advantage if familiar with Google BigQuery and PostGISExcellent written and verbal English communication skillsComfortable working in a fast-pace, innovative environment where problems are not always well definedWhat We Look For
We are looking for individuals which are growth-minded with high learning agility. We also value data scientists who can think critically about model assumptions, causal inference, uncertainty, and experimental design, ensuring that solutions are not only accurate but also explainable and reliable in real-world maritime settings.
