Job descriptionBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; professional qualification (CIMA / ACCA) preferred. Minimum 6–8 years of related experience in product costing or inventory accounting. Strong business acumen with understanding of manufacturing processes and end-to-end inventory cycle. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate across functions and levels. Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated teamwork, integrity, accountability, and leadership capabilities. Ability to work under pressure, handle ambiguity, and drive innovation. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required. We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to support cost accounting and manufacturing cost analysis to drive cost optimization and informed business decisions.
Location : Penang, Malaysia (Taman Pulau Pinang). Travel : 5-15%.
Responsibilities
- You will support semi-annual standard cost updates and conduct detailed analyses for material cost changes.
- You will perform simulation of standard cost with computation of resource and overhead rates to support annual budget and long-range planning (LRP).
- You will review changes to the bill of materials (BOM) and routing hours to support operational process changes.
- You will be responsible for monthly COGS variance analysis, provide forecast bridging commentary to identify root causes, and deliver actionable insights to management.
- You support the business in analyzing production variances and associated manufacturing costs (e.g., operating supplies and tooling).
- You will present manufacturing dashboards, yield and scrap KPI reporting, and discuss findings with operations to drive cost optimization and process improvement.
- You support annual budget and quarterly forecast preparation for COGS variances and manufacturing costs.
- You will oversee SOX compliance, support interim / annual audits, and respond to audit requests.
- You will assess accounting treatment changes and the financial impact of operational process changes to support business decision making.
- You will reconcile, analyze, and interpret system data, and work with IT on dual-system data discrepancy troubleshooting.
- You will perform cost validation, data compilation, and other tasks as assigned by management.
