Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented
Assistant Manager / Manager – Tax
to join our in-house finance team. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional with strong exposure to both
direct and indirect taxes across Malaysia and Singapore , who can ensure full compliance while supporting strategic tax planning, cross-border matters, and audit readiness. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end tax operations, providing tax insights to support business decisions, and acting as the key contact for tax authorities, auditors, and external tax consultants on both compliance and project-related matters. Key Responsibilities
Manage and review all aspects of tax compliance in
Malaysia and Singapore , including preparation and timely submission of tax returns, payments, and statutory reporting.
Monitor and manage obligations across areas such as
corporate income tax, SST, GST, withholding tax, stamp duty, and import / export duties , ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Support the preparation of monthly and year-end tax provisions in line with accounting standards, including
deferred tax computations .
Provide
tax advisory support
on business transactions, contracts, cross-border matters, and new business initiatives.
Act as a
key liaison during tax audits and queries , coordinating documentation, explanations, and communications with tax authorities.
Lead and coordinate
tax projects in collaboration with external tax consultants , ensuring timely execution and alignment with business objectives.
Maintain proper tax records and documentation to support positions taken during audits and reviews.
Keep abreast of changes in Malaysia and Singapore tax laws and regulations; assess their impact and ensure proactive compliance across the business.
Assist in the development and implementation of tax-related internal controls and process improvements.
Work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure
tax considerations are fully integrated
into business decisions.
Requirements
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional qualification such as
ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, or equivalent
is an advantage.
Proven experience in a tax role, either in-house or with a tax advisory firm.
Strong working knowledge of
both Malaysia and Singapore tax regulations
and tax accounting principles.
Experience managing
compliance, advisory, and project-based tax initiatives
with external consultants.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders.
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
