Assistant Resident Engineer

to oversee the site-based delivery of the

Communications and Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) systems

on a major rail transit project with the role based in Johor Bharu, Malaysia (Johor Bahru) for a duration of 12 months. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team and its stakeholders to inspect completed installations, witness testing activities, and review site-related documentation. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge of railway systems and installation practices. This role requires the individual to : monitor the installation of telecommunication and fare collection systems ensuring compliance with approved designs, specifications and safety standards. witness factory and site acceptance tests, verify test procedures and results, and support commissioning activities. review and comment on site documentation including method statements, installation drawings, test reports, and as-built documentation. ensure that workmanship and materials meet project requirements and industry standards. identify and escalate site issues, coordinate with the contractor to implement corrective actions. maintain daily site records, contribute to progress reports, and support regular site coordination meetings. liaise with other disciplines and contractors to manage interfaces and avoid clashes or delays. Here's what you'll need : As a key member of the project team, you will be expected to : possess a bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, or systems engineering registered with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) have a minimum of 5 relevant years of experience in site supervision of rail systems, preferably AFC or similar technologies. be familiar with Communication system assets and AFC components such as gates, validators, ticket vending machines, and backend systems. have a strong understanding of installation practices, testing protocols, and safety procedures. be able to interpret technical drawings and documentation Must have valid work authorization to work in Malaysia.
