MEKAR ANGKUT SDN BHD, an integrated logistics provider, seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Safety Officer to oversee and ensure the safe operation of the fleet. The role involves implementing safety policies, monitoring compliance with road transport regulations, conducting safety training for drivers, and investigating accidents / incidents. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational safety and transport management.
About the Role
This is a full-time on-site role for a Transport Safety Officer located in WP. Kuala Lumpur. The Transport Safety Officer will be responsible for :
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments on vehicles, drivers, and facilities.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs to drivers and staff.
- Ensure compliance with road transport regulations, OSH (Occupational Safety & Health) standards, and company policies.
- Maintain proper safety records, documentation, and reporting.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with transport safety standards and legal requirements.Develop and enforce Safety Management System (SMS) and SOPs for drivers and vehicles.Conduct vehicle inspections and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.Investigate accidents and recommend preventive actions.Conduct driver training and maintain safety performance records.Liaise with authorities (JPJ, PUSPAKOM, DOSH, MOT) on safety compliance.Report monthly on safety KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in :
Occupational Safety & Health (OSH)Transportation / Logistics ManagementEngineering (Mechanical / Automotive)Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)NIOSH / DOSH certification (e.g. SHO, Safety Passport, or Green Book holder) preferred.Possess a valid driving license (Class D / E / GDL) depending on vehicle category.Minimum 1–5 years of experience in transport safety, fleet management, or logistics operations.Experience handling tanker, car carrier, or heavy vehicle operations is highly preferred.Required Skills
Proven track record in accident prevention, driver safety programs, and compliance monitoring.Strong understanding of : Road Transport Act 1987; Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) regulations; JPJ / MOT safety compliance; Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC); Definite driving principles, load securing, and BDM compliance.Competent in : Conducting incident / accident investigation and root cause analysis; Preparing safety audits, inspection reports, and safety statistics; Delivering safety training and toolbox briefings for drivers and ground staff.Excellent communication (BM & English), leadership, and problem-solving skills.Computer literate (MS Office, Fleet Management or Telematics System).Preferred Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with drivers, management, and authorities.Ability to work independently and travel to depots or sites when required.Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to ensuring workplace and road safety.Employment Details
