Specific responsibilities and expectations of this role
- Be responsible for the storage and maintenance of Design and Technology equipment.
- Be responsible for the hire / purchase of equipment when needed.
- Advising on, and working within, set budgets.
- Prepare materials, equipment and machines as required by the subject teachers prior to lessons.
- Ensure hand tools are kept in optimum condition and stored correctly.
- Regularly maintain the equipment and tools in the workshop and classroom areas.
- Empty and clean the dust extraction filters as required by the manufacturer.
- Keep all classrooms and workshops organised and free from hazards.
- To assist ARTS staff in developing appropriate resources for teaching and learning.
- Organise materials, equipment, machines and tools in the Department.
- Stock-taking and ordering of materials, tools and equipment.
- Organise and catalogue books in the Department.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are met.
- To ensure student safety by maintaining records and checking PPE.
- Undertake and arrange maintenance of 3D Printers and Laser cutters.
- Support and manage efficient production of items on the 3D Printers.
- To assist teaching staff in promoting and raising the profile of D&T within and outside School.
- To support the development and delivery of Computer Aided Design & Manufacture in DT.
- To support the delivery of the agreed curriculum through preparation and planning.
- To participate in the creation, development and evaluation of resources to effectively implement the curriculum.
- To provide opportunities for students to practise their skills.
- To participate in professional development and the process of professional development review.
- To support and develop an ethos of innovation and collaboration with colleagues across the faculty.
- To support covering absent colleagues as required.
- Contribution to school marketing activities such as open days.
- Deliver staff training for newly appointed staff (How to operate all machines in DT and check H+S knowledge).
- Undertake and be Registered as the Emergency First Aid responder for the department.
- Act as a Teaching Assistant during practical lessons per allocated TT as well as undertake supervision of KS4 students and specialist work with KS5.
- Work with small groups of students under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Providing technical support in varying areas to GCSE and A level practical examinations.
- Assist the Faculty consisting of DT, ART, DRAMA & MUSIC.
- To attend school events as required - contribution to wider school life.
- To support school trips and activities.
- To contribute to team / whole school discussions and development activities.
- To contribute to the school’s enrichment programmes on Friday afternoons, and after school ECAs.
- To support the school Football Team Training (ECA) and attend matches if required.
- Undertake and support the fabrication of items for POWIIS & POWIIS primary school when required and agreed.
