Overview
The Port Operations Executive is responsible for coordinating and monitoring day-to-day operational activities at the port, ensuring efficient vessel turnaround, safe cargo handling, compliance with port authority regulations and high service standards for shipping lines and logistics partners. The role acts as a liaison between vessels, stevedores, customs, port authorities and internal teams to maintain seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Vessel & Cargo Operations
Coordinate berth planning, vessel scheduling and resource allocation for smooth port operations.
Monitor loading, unloading and storage of cargo.Ensure safe and efficient operation of stevedoring teams, equipment and cargo handling processes.Track vessel turnaround time and work to minimize delays.Stakeholder CoordinationAct as the point of contact for ship captains, agents, customs and port authorities.
Liaise with logistics, procurement and workshop teams to ensure equipment and resources are available.Resolve operational issues quickly to maintain service standards.Compliance & SafetyEnsure operations comply with port authority regulations and HSE standards.
Maintain accurate records of vessel calls, cargo handled and incident reports.Support audits, inspections and incident investigations.Operational Efficiency & ReportingMonitor KPIs such as berth productivity, crane moves per hour, cargo throughput and turnaround time.
Prepare daily / weekly operational reports for management.Support process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.Administrative SupportAssist in preparing work orders, documentation, permits and operational reports.
Update operational data in ERP / TOS (Terminal Operating Systems).Support the operations manager in planning manpower, equipment allocation and scheduling.Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Port & Shipping Management, Business Administration or related field.Experience
3–5 years of experience in port operations, terminal logistics, shipping or stevedoring services.Knowledge of vessel operations, cargo handling processes and port authority procedures.Experience in using Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) and ERP platforms.Familiarity with international shipping documentation and customs processes.Additional Skills
Strong coordination and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder management.Ability to work under pressure in a 24 / 7 operational environment.Good analytical skills and reporting ability (Excel, dashboards, KPI tracking).#J-18808-Ljbffr
