Overview
Prepare operating theatre with necessary instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies. Verify patient identity, consent forms, and surgical site marking according to hospital protocols. Conduct pre-operative checks (vital signs, allergies, medical history). Provide emotional support and education to patients and families before surgery.
Responsibilities
Prepare operating theatre with necessary instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.

Conduct pre-operative checks (vital signs, allergies, medical history).
Provide emotional support and education to patients and families before surgery.
Transfer patients safely to recovery room / PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit).
Provide handover report to recovery nurse regarding patient condition and intra-operative events.
Monitor patient’s immediate post-operative status when required.
Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation.
Participate in staff training, competency assessments, and continuous professional development.
Support junior nurses and students in learning OT practices.
Report equipment malfunction or shortage to Nurse Manager.
Adhere to hospital policies, including occupational safety and quality standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Diploma / Degree in Nursing with current Nursing Board registration (e.g., Malaysian Nursing Board – APC).
Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical instruments, and patient safety practices.
Good communication, teamwork, and stress management skills.
Ability to adapt to emergencies and fast-paced surgical environment.
Post-Basic in Perioperative Nursing is an added advantage.
