Overview

The Business Management Team Lead is a strategic partner to the Managing Director & Regional Head of Wealth Management. This role supports both the daily operations and the future direction of the bank's regional wealth management business in key markets like Malaysia and Singapore. This position is responsible for overseeing business management, operational efficiency, and risk, while also executing high-level strategy. The goal is to directly improve the effectiveness of client-facing teams and ensure close collaboration with all supporting functions. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Operations and Transformation.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Key support to the Managing Director Regional Head of Wealth Management

Support in driving key strategic priorities and initiatives ensuring their successful integration and implementation across HLB\'s Regional Wealth Management business.

  • Facilitate strategic workshops and planning sessions for the Regional Wealth Management leadership and senior management team.
  • Produce meaningful analytics and insights to report on and support decision making around strategy performance, resources and budgets.
  • Serve as a catalyst to translate enterprise-level strategies into business-specific implementation plans.
  • Secretariat Support to the Managing Director & Regional Head of Wealth Management
  • Prepare high-quality materials, presentations, and briefing documents for select committees and meetings chaired or hosted by the Managing Director & Regional Head of Wealth Management.

  • Perform or support the duties of meeting secretariat in designated committees and meetings, ensuring accurate record-keeping and follow-up on action items.
  • Act as a key liaison with other committee secretariats and senior management across HLBB.
  • Business Management Activities
  • Managing functions to support the overall business operations including front office processes around client segment tagging, and centralised call backs.

  • Maintain ongoing oversight and management of budget, cost, and business administrations.
  • Develop and operationalise enterprise and departmental policies and frameworks to enhance organisational performance.
  • Identify and champion opportunities for operational excellence and Front Office process optimisation across the entire client lifecycle within Regional Wealth Management.
  • Work closely with departments, projects teams and Technology to ensure the effective implementation and leveraging of digital enablers to achieve business goals and enhance client experience.
  • Managerial (Team / Group Responsibilities)
  • Demonstrate ability to lead large cross location teams and enforce cross-functional collaboration to achieve shared goals.

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Business Managers fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Organisational (Organisational Responsibilities)
  • Demonstrate ability to navigate complex cross functional matrix organisation.

  • Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Build strong working relationships with all key internal stakeholders, including Front Office leadership, Product Heads, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, HR, and Finance across the region.

  • Effectively communicate strategy, performance, and risk updates to various levels of management.
  • Education / Qualification

  • Degree in relevant or equivalent fields such as Technology, Finance, Economics or related fields.
  • Jobholder Requirement

    Experience

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 12 years and above progressive experience in the financial services industry, with mandatory and solid demonstrable experience in Private Banking or Wealth Management within a regional banking context (e.g., Malaysia, Singapore).
  • Proven experience in a strategic business management, COO office, Chief of Staff, or similar senior support function, with a track record of working directly with Senior Management (e.g., CEO, Head of Business) within the Front Office.
  • Deep knowledge of wealth management products, services, and the entire client lifecycle in the APAC region.
  • Strong understanding of relevant regional regulatory frameworks and guidelines (e.g., BNM, SC in Malaysia; MAS in Singapore) relevant to Private Banking and Wealth Management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk management principles and internal control frameworks (e.g., RCSA / MCA).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication (written and verbal), influencing, and presentation skills, capable of engaging and aligning diverse senior stakeholders across different cultures.
  • Strong project and program management capabilities, with a proven ability to lead groups toward a single goal and deliver practical results.
  • A driven self-starter who is highly delivery-focused, thrives in a fast-paced and demanding environment, and can adapt to various demands in a diverse culture.
