Category Manager (Ready Meal, Bakery, Cafe and Grocer Kitchen)
To assist Senior Category Manager for both strategic planning and merchandising.
To achieve monthly / annual target sales, margin, stock turnover days (TOD), shrinkage and inventory levels are in accordance to company KPI.
To plan and execute company marketing plan from planning, sourcing of merchandise, purchasing, price strategy, promotion mechanic etc.
To collaborate with supplier to grow sales and margin to maximize tile promotion mechanic and sales floor productivity.
To work with Team to develop and execute sourcing strategies to maximize the new merchandise insights to help drive overall product launch strategy.
To have proper supplier management and business plan to ensure accurate movement of SKUs, price change update, new SKU listing, buying income collection and annual trading target achievable.
To analyze sales performance, inventory availability and vendor\'s service levels in order to make recommendations for improvement.
To support company vision and merchandising strategies for indent category to be No. 1 in marketplace.
To take part in company event, training program, buying trip, stock taking and festive support to socialize with community, colleagues and continuous self-development.
Main Accountabilities
- Administration & Supports - To assist in order placements with existing vendors / suppliers. To follow up and keep track on status of stocks from vendors / suppliers to ensure a timely buying process. Updating new items listing and key-in in system for further distribution to sales floor. Generating reports of cost analysis from shipments to buying costs in order to optimise performance.
- Merchandising / Ranging - To be involved in the overall ranging strategy ensuring that through effective range control process and pricing strategy, product selections is in line with consumer trends and in line with sales and margin targets. Ensure that products on sales floor provide inspiration for customers and retail team and that the selected ranges support the Company brand essence. Support on the range changes include new products launch, clearance activities, overstocks and implementation of new floor range stock are executed with careful planning and liaison with Stores, Marketing, Vendors & Suppliers and Distribution Centre ensuring any information is distributed in a timely manner. Assist to ensure that product range performance is monitored taking the appropriate action to ensure the identification and agreement on action plans to deal with best and worse seller in order to optimise performance. In conjunction with the retail team develop forward promotional strategies ensuring that all events are properly planned meeting margin and sales targets and all results are properly analysed. Ensure commitment levels placed on stock lines are consistent with the range and promotional objectives. Works closely with every involved party to ensure that there is a joined-up process between inbound and outbound stock movement. Work closely with Marketing and Business Development Teams on deciding how product should be displayed to maximise customers\' interest and sales.
- Procurement - To ensure a timely, effectively and commercially sound buying process. To Develop own in house brand for Ready Meal, Baker, Beverage and Grocer Kitchen Range with Local Manufacturer and In Store Production by operation team. Inline with Food Safety, Food Quality and Proper Product Labelling. Do Proper R&D for each new product on product eating quality, presentation, food safety and Shelf life. Identify emerging trends. Involved in developing business strategies outlining strengths, weaknesses, new opportunities and seasonal strategies. Gather information on customer\’ reactions to product. The efficient and timely sourcing of new products that meet the needs of the defined range architecture.
- Quality Control - Ensure that effective quality control becomes embedded in the buying and supply chain processes to optimise product quality and legal compliance. Controlling stock levels based on the forecast according to season. From time to time, random spot check on the eating quality for the Ready Meal either manufacture or in house production to maintain Food quality. Work with Customer Service and Marketing Teams to ensure a mechanism is in place for managing quality problems with products in the marketplace. Maximize opportunity and ensure the business product sourcing is managed in line with our vertical integration strategy. Executes vendor and supplier selection and develops vendor / supplier and internal organizational partnerships. Maintain relationships, resolve issues and conduct negotiations with vendors and suppliers as necessary. Ensure all aspects of vendor and supplier performance is properly and effectively assessed and managed, taking appropriate remedial action when necessary. Ensure effective control and management of inbound stock, agreeing forecasts and work jointly with vendors and suppliers to resolve supply chain issues.
- Inventory Management - To identify best suited mechanism for Inventory Management hence organize people and inventory with same efficiency. Adopt as responsible leader in managing inventory team for stores, warehouse, distribution centre or similar. Ensure effective schedule is created so that all stocks are monitored in appropriate methods and maintained reasonable levels. Proper SOP guidance for food receiving, storage, display and clearance.
- Leadership & People Management - Ability to manage manpower in department including hiring, resolve conflicts and reduce staff turnover. Ensure that Merchandising & Buying Teams are effectively resources, directed, motivated and developed enabling them to reach their full potential for both individual and Company benefit. Ensure team members are kept abreast of current issues both at departmental and Company Ievel through effective communication forums. Drive and develop performance of the team with a view to optimising output and achievement of objectives whilst effectively managing performance issues. Adopt a senior leadership role within the business and in conjunctive with other members of Senior Management take ownership for setting and leading Company direction and strategy.
- General - To adhere and enforce all Company\'s policies and procedures. Undertake / participate in any ad hoc projects or other relevant duties as assigned from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Requirements - Posses Diploma or higher in retail management or other related fields. Retail in supermarket and merchandising experience would be an added advantage. At least 5-year experience in managing a team. Posses strong planning, organizing, communication, business acumen, presentation, result driven. Computer literacy in MS Office. Have own transport and willing to travel as when needed. Proficient in English, Malay both spoken and written.Unlock job insights
