Field Application Engineer

Summary

We are looking for a Field Engineer for an established fasteners manufacturing US MNC.

The Field Application Engineer will be pioneering the development of the clientele base in the sales area along with the Sales Team, addressing and performing QA duties, reviewing engineering designs / specifications and solutions to meet customer’s requirements.

This role will have occasional travel requirements locally, and the role is based in Penang, Malaysia.

Job Responsibilities

Handling customer enquiries and provide technical advice / solutions regarding self-clinching fasteners applications,

Answers enquiries pertaining to declarations on raw material according to the various compliance requirements i.e. RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals Statements etc.

Review engineering drawing and liaise with customers on clarifications when required, supporting sales teams and other regional field application engineers with technical matters.

Attending sample testing with factory teams and reviewing customer requirements and expectations.

Execution / Planning of roadshows at client premise to showcase products and application solutions.

Participation and coordination of QA activities for ISO 9001 : 2015 system refreshes.

First responder to resolve any quality issues on site at first level on response.

Recommend equipment purchases, liaising and submission of IMDS / MSDS, qualification documents (e.g., PPAP) from manufacturing sites.

Documentation of activity on salesforce platform and reporting to stakeholders.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering / mechatronics / industrial or related field.

Open to travelling as a work requirement.

Experience in the field of Automotive / Datacom Equipment / Consumer Electronics / Telecom / OEM is highly preferred.

Minimum of 2 years in with Mechanical Fasteners application, or 5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.

Independent with good experience in dealing with customer facing requirements and problem solving abilities.

Strong adherence to safety standards and guidelines.

Proficiency in Chinese and English, both written and spoken, to communicate with design team based in Mainland China.

Good communication skills and stakeholder management.
