Job Purpose
Managing legal risks while balancing commercial pressure and business growth
A. About the job in summary :
- Contract drafting, review and negotiation for technical and highly regulated products and services with counterparties being banks, payment principals, schemes and blue-chips.
- Give legal and strategic advice on company initiatives including but not limited to new product lines, government awards, AI and data analytics.
- Work closely with the DPO on privacy matters and sensitizing colleagues to such new laws
- Horizon scanning and legal market comparison on Fintech laws i.e. DORA, UK CTP, SOC2 etc.
- Help improve or automate legal operations or introduce processes to streamline day-to-day legal matters i.e. playbooks, templates, productivity tracker etc.
- Training and advising colleagues on an array of matters and working closely with Compliance on governance i.e. AML, ABC, BNM Guidelines etc.
- The process owner for all contracting lifecycle from preliminary review to execution stage.
- Advise internally and work with external counsels on disputes for buy or sell side contracts, regulatory dawn raids, crisis management or AML investigations.
- Track regulatory developments and maintain strong relationships with regulators.
B. General Requirements
LLB 2 : 1 onwards, and being called to the bar is an added advantage.4 to 7 years prior working experience.A combination of private practice and in-house is preferred.Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing interests and overlapping priorities despite sudden developments i.e. regulatory requests, disputes or audits.Strong thinking, research, drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.Good knowledge of laws including contract, banking, tech, employment, data protection and any matter relating to our businesses in banking technology.Street smart to deliver practical workarounds for complex businesses and regulations.Self-starter who can work independently with undeniable personal integrity, especially when owning up to mistakes and keeping issues under control.Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
