Ensure all activities are conducted and managed in accordance with agreed Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance standards.
Lead and mentor a team of 4–5 process engineers to provide high-quality technical services to refinery internal customers, focusing on delivering the site's business plan while ensuring safety, complying with environmental regulations, and maximizing profitability.
Lead and drive the provision of technical services within the refinery, focusing on day-to-day unit optimization and troubleshooting. Principal areas of accountability include Distillation Units, Hydroprocessing Units, Oil Movement, Reforming Unit, and Product Quality.
Identify, assess, and pursue on-site projects and initiatives that address gaps or opportunities in Process Safety, Reliability, Product Quality, Margin, Cost, and / or Energy.
Provide oversight and drive the maturity of the site's Proactive Technical Monitoring work processes.
Support the management of the Technology department's operating budget and contribute to refinery cost control, cost reduction, and margin maximization.
Provide strategic advice on the long-term development of the refinery.
Guide and coach the Product Quality focal point in driving the refinery-wide Product Quality (PQ) system.
Conduct appraisals and provide input to the performance ranking process.
Manage and prioritize the activities of technologists and review their deliverables for completeness and technical quality.
Manage the operating budget for technologists and contribute to refinery cost control, cost reduction, and Gross Refining Margin (GRM) maximization.
Coordinate with various departments such as Scheduling / Planning, Maintenance, Operations, Projects, Engineering, and Finance on technical matters.
Facilitate succession planning for subordinates.
Assess and arrange training needs for team members.
Provide guidance to the team to enhance both their technical and soft skills.
Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a refinery, complex process plant, or with a technology licensor company, with at least 5 years in a managerial role .
Proven experience and skills in process optimization, technical services, process troubleshooting, process design, and process simulation. Hands-on experience in a refinery, either in the Technology or Operations department, is essential.
Core expertise in Distillation, Hydroprocessing, Catalytic Reforming, Oil Movement / Tank Farm, or other refining technologies is a strong advantage.
Strong leadership abilities and excellent team player skills.
