SMT Programmer

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, and optimize SMT programs for pick-and-place machines specifically for Yamaha, Juki, Siplace and Panasonic.
• Create and manage stencil files, fiducial recognition, and machine vision alignment settings.
• Convert CAD / BOM data to SMT programs using relevant software (e.g., Vayor, Unidocs, CircuitCAM, etc.).
• Perform first article inspection and verification of new programs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SMT programming and placement accuracy.
• Collaborate with NPI and process engineering teams for smooth new product introductions.
• Maintain and improve SMT setup sheets, feeder lists, and production documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time and increase yield.
• Set up, program, and maintain solder paste printers (e.g., DEK, GKG) including stencil alignment and cleaning cycles.
• Conduct reflow oven profiling using thermal profilers (e.g., KIC) to ensure proper thermal settings for various assemblies.
• Ensure soldering process meets IPC and customer standards.
• Troubleshoot SMT line issues including placement accuracy, soldering defects, and profile deviations.
• Support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities by collaborating with design and process engineers.
• Prepare and update setup sheets, feeder lists, stencil files, and process documentation.
• Work with quality, production, and maintenance teams to achieve high yield and equipment uptime.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and yield improvement projects.
