Responsibilities
- o Apply for and manage import duty / sales tax exemptions (e.g., C1, C3, Schedule A) for raw materials, finished goods, and packaging materials.
- o Liaise with Customs Department, MITI, MIDA, and other regulatory agencies.
- o Maintain daily records of in / out usage for SST-exempted materials.
- o Monitor and renew permits, licenses, and exemption usage limits before expiry.
- o Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all customs declarations, permits, invoices, and shipping documents.
- o Prepare and submit monthly / bi-monthly SST reports (e.g., exemption utilization, K1 / K2 summaries) for internal and Customs audits.
- o Ensure compliance with Customs Act 1967, Sales Tax Act 2018, and other trade regulations.
- o Act as the primary contact during customs inspections, audits, or post-clearance reviews.
- o Classify goods accurately based on HS Code and apply correct tariff rates.
- o Monitor company operations to ensure compliance with customs requirements (e.g., value declaration, country of origin, Incoterms).
- Shipping Support :
o Prepare, verify, and submit import / export documentation (e.g., K1, K2, K3, K8).
o Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping agents, and transporters to ensure timely clearance and delivery.o Track shipment status and proactively manage risks such as demurrage and detention.o Calculate landed cost (duties, SST, freight, clearance charges) and provide cost analysis.o Evaluate and implement cost-saving opportunities via exemptions or Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).o Prepare and provide required documentation during internal and external audits.o Resolve findings, discrepancies, or non-compliance issues related to shipping and customs.System, SOP maintenance and Awareness :o Maintain and update SOPs related to customs and shipping processes.
o Ensure accurate system data entry in ERP and customs clearance platforms (e.g., DagangNet).o Conduct training / briefing sessions for relevant departments (Purchasing, Logistics, Finance) on customs and shipping updates.Critical Requirements / Criteria :o Ensure 100% compliance with Customs Act 1967, Sales Tax Act 2018, and related regulations.
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customs and shipping documents.o Submit customs exemptions, permits, and SST reports on or before the required deadlines.o Zero tolerance for errors in HS Code classification and documentation that could lead to penalties.o Proactively monitor permits, licenses, and shipments to avoid delays, demurrage, or fines.Job Requirements :o Diploma / Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
o At least 2–3 years’ experience in shipping / customs-related functions (preferably in manufacturing / warehousing).o Strong knowledge of customs procedures, HS Code classification, SST exemptions, and DagangNet.o Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and customs clearance platforms.o Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.o Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks under tight timelines.o Good communication and negotiation skills when dealing with customs officers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.o Problem-solving mindset, with ability to handle audits, inspections, and discrepancies.#J-18808-Ljbffr
