Overview

We are partnering with a leading US multinational (Fortune 500) that is seeking to appoint an experienced Legal Counsel to join its high-performing regional legal team. This Kuala Lumpur–based role has a broad APAC remit, supporting complex commercial, technology, and partnership-driven initiatives across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Advise senior stakeholders on a wide range of strategic partnerships, commercial agreements, and technology transactions.
Provide legal support on intellectual property, licensing, and technology-related issues affecting the company’s products, services, and operations.
Partner with internal business teams to structure and negotiate complex, high-value deals across multiple jurisdictions.
Support the day-to-day operations of the business with pragmatic and solutions-driven legal advice.
Manage external counsel where required and ensure compliance with global and regional standards.

Requirements

Minimum 8 years’ PQE, with a strong foundation from a top-tier law firm and relevant in-house experience.

Proven track record advising on complex commercial, technology, and IP-related matters, ideally with exposure to cross-border transactions.

Strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Prior experience in the payments or fintech industry is not required, but genuine interest and willingness to learn about this dynamic and evolving sector is vital.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate effectively across cultures in a regional role.
