The Tax Counsel APAC acts as Regional Tax Counsel for all countries within Financial Control APAC and reports to the Head of Financial Control APAC.
The Regional Tax Counsel’s responsibility is to provide expert tax advice and to maintain and implement tax-related global and regional improvement strategies to create shareholder value for Ericsson, and adds value to the group by providing tax guidance to various stakeholders. Further, the Tax Counsel is responsible for dealing and supporting with tax litigations, cross-border tax controversies and advance pricing arrangements impacting the group tax position. The Regional Tax Counsel guides and supports local tax managers and financial controllers in operational tax matters where needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Control APAC subject matter responsible for taxes in the Region
- Proactively work with Unit managers, Tax managers and Financial Controllers to mitigate tax risks and to provide Direct and Indirect Tax Advice
- Support APAC Tax managers in significant Tax audits and other complicated tax matters
- Drive tax process improvements and automation together with Group
Main Activities
Escalation point for tax matters and non-policy / extraordinary TP issues in the region, arbitrate and agree strategy with all stakeholdersSupport tax managers in tax audits and litigations where neededProvide expert tax advice in tax litigations and cross-border tax controversies supporting with the strategy set up, including exploring potential settlements and other resolution mechanisms e.g. MAPs, APAs, BITs etc.Assess the tax impact of and advice on establishment or conversion of legal entitiesSupport Tax Managers in tax advisory matters, e.g. where group reputational issues, out of policy or multiple countrySupport Tax Managers, EOM Champions and others in understanding and assessing the EAB / LME aspects when providing tax and EOM advice to Market Areas and other stakeholders in the regionEnsure global intercompany and EOM flows are set up to minimize the regional and group WHT impactsUnderstand major WHT risks for the Region and actively mitigate by working with tax managers and other stakeholders (e.g. to seek tax rulings)Support Tax Managers to ensure consistency in tax reporting and actively assess high impact reporting matters, including reporting of tax controversiesSupport in group tax initiatives and projects (e.g. Tax Controversy, Tax Environment assessment, WHT alignment) for the entities in the regionCoordinating the tax managers’ work on specific items e.g. risk assessments, tax forecasting, tax provisioning related to tax controversies, EOM / customer contracts, and tax technical mattersYou will bring
A University degree in Tax Law, Finance or equivalentProven knowledge, experience and deep expertise in International TaxationMinimum 10 years of experience from similar positionExperienced leaderExperience in formulating strategies and conceptsStrong analytical and financial acumenAbility to influence internal and external partners and drive objective decision makingExcellent interpersonal, communication skills and ability to build networksProficiency in English, both written and spokenAt Ericsson, you´ll have an outstanding opportunity.
