Senior Officer, Cargo Warehouse Handling
The position is responsible for ensuring that all general cargo, human remains, diplomatic mail, and Dangerous Goods (DG) cargo are handled properly in accordance with company standard operating procedures and meet the company’s service standards.
Key Accountability
- The role involves adhering to all IMS requirements as well as other relevant company policies and procedures. It includes managing the overall day-to-day operations, planning the allocation of manpower and equipment, and ensuring resources are used efficiently.
- The position requires preparing staff schedules during leaves, maintaining discipline among team members, and ensuring compliance with SOPs and other regulations.
- Investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions are key responsibilities, along with providing reports to management as needed.
- The role also involves attending operations meetings when required, monitoring vendor performance, and ensuring delivery meets established service level agreements.
- Close coordination with the MABKargo Operations Control Centre (OPCC) and other related units is essential for operational matters and performance management.
- Handling customer inquiries and providing on-the-job training to staff are also part of the duties.
- Additionally, supervising, monitoring, and reporting on safety and security issues is critical.
- The role includes overseeing cargo handling operations performed by a small team of MH and vendor staff, with overall responsibility for the team’s activities, performance, and safety within the warehouse.
- This role requires reporting to and coordinating actions with the Duty Manager on duty. The position operates on an individual roster with 8-hour shift patterns.
- Maintain a safe working environment and consistently comply with all safety and security requirements. Additionally, the senior officers must always adhere to safety and security protocols.
- Other tasks may be assigned by superiors as needed.
Qualification & Working Experience
Minimum of SPM / SPMV / DVM, Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.Safety and security certifications related to cargo and warehouse operations.IMS (Integrated Management System) knowledge or certification is a plusMinimum 3-5 years of experience in cargo handling, warehouse operations, or logistics, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or senior roleAreas of Experience
