Early Childhood Educator (Mandarin Speaking)
An Early Childhood Educator (ECE) will demonstrate the ability to relate well to children and adults and work constructively, as part of the team, to perform classroom roles and responsibilities, including :
Responsibilities
Support for Pupils
- To work collaboratively with the classroom teacher in planning, delivering, marking and assessing student work across all areas of the curriculum.
- To have high regard for the safety and well-being of the pupils at all times.
- To work alongside the individual and groups of pupils in activities specified by the class teacher, establishing good relationships and acting as a role model.
- To encourage inclusion within the classroom.
- To encourage pupils to interact within the classroom and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- To assist in the supervision of pupils on outings or visits.
- To encourage good personal hygiene and assist with necessary independence skills (e.g. feeding, toileting, dressing etc. at an age appropriate level).
Support for Teachers
To collaborate with the classroom teacher regarding the daily / weekly programme of activities and events.To be aware of pupils’ problems / progress / achievements and report to the teacher as agreed.To provide administrative support, e.g. record keeping, photocopying, filing etc.To work within the school established Rewards, Celebrations and Behaviour Management policies to anticipate and manage behaviour using a restorative justice approach, reporting difficulties as appropriate.Support for the Curriculum
To prepare and assist specific activities, supporting pupils to understand instructions in respect of any learning strategies.To support pupils in respect of national learning strategies, e.g. literacy, numeracy, early years, as directed by the teacher.To assist with the planning, preparation, delivery, marking and data analysis of assessments.Support for the School
To attend appropriate staff meetings as required.To be aware of all Health & Safety issues.To treat all information relating to a child as strictly confidential and refer all enquiries to your immediate line manager.To assist with the general supervision of children, including before and after school, during break times and / or when required.To be a proactive member of the school and Elementary team.To attend relevant professional development, in order to update knowledge and skills.To promote the policies and ethos of the school.Any other duties as and when assigned.Requirements
Diploma / Bachelor of Early Childhood EducationTeaching license or registration with the relevant authority (e.g., MOE or equivalent in other countries).Prior teaching or practicum experience in an early childhood / preschool / kindergarten setting.Experience with play-based learning and hands-on activities .Familiarity with working with children from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning needs.Seniority level
