Senior Design Manager – Job Description

The Senior Design Manager, seconded from the Design and Planning Department, will assume a leadership role within the Project Development Department, reporting directly to the Department Head. The role requires a high level of expertise in design and planning, as well as the ability to oversee and manage design activities across multiple projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provide strategic direction and leadership for design activities within the Project Development Department.

Lead and manage a team of design professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.

Oversee the design process for all assigned projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements, timelines, and budget constraints.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement innovative design solutions.

Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations in all design work.

Review and approve design deliverables, ensuring quality and accuracy.

Liaise with internal stakeholders, including the Design and Planning Department, to align project design requirements with organizational standards and objectives.

Represent the Project Development Department in design-related meetings and presentations.

Provide regular progress reports to Functional and Business Unit Heads.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in design and planning.

Proven track record of managing design projects from concept to completion.

Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead a team effectively.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Proficiency in design software and tools, such as AutoCAD & SketchUp.

Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
