Overview
Programme Manager - Global Expansion (AI and Software) — Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This role leads the setup and ongoing operation of a new AI-driven software hub in Kuala Lumpur, partnering with engineering leaders, product managers, QA, DevOps, HR, and international stakeholders. You will implement governance models, manage large-scale programmes involving AI or software, and help attract top talent to the hub while aligning regional goals with global objectives.
What you'll do
- Oversee the end-to-end execution of a significant expansion project by scaling up a new technology hub comprising over 50 software engineers.
- Establish governance structures and delivery frameworks tailored to large-scale AI and software initiatives.
- Drive multiple concurrent programmes across Engineering, Product Management, Quality Assurance, and DevOps.
- Partner with global stakeholders in APAC and Europe to align objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
- Develop operational dashboards with real-time project insights and proactive risk management.
- Deliver executive reporting on programme status, achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with HR and Talent Acquisition to accelerate recruitment and onboarding for hub hires.
- Champion continuous improvement by applying Agile, Hybrid, or Waterfall approaches where appropriate.
- Foster an inclusive team culture with open communication and shared responsibility for goals.
- Ensure compliance with organisational standards and local Kuala Lumpur regulatory requirements.
What you bring
Minimum of ten years' experience in technology programme management, leading complex multi-million-dollar projects from inception to completion.Extensive background managing large-scale software engineering programmes; direct AI project exposure is highly advantageous.Proficiency with Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project or similar tools; experience with Agile, Hybrid, or Waterfall methods.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to present clear recommendations under pressure.Exceptional executive communication skills for engaging senior leaders and technical contributors across geographies.Proven track record managing global or regional stakeholders within matrixed organisations.Resilience in navigating ambiguity and adapting to evolving business needs.Commitment to nurturing collaborative relationships across teams and cultures.Experience building operational dashboards translating data into insights for decision-makers.What sets this company apart
