Job descriptionEnsure adherence to Bank Negara Malaysia’s sustainability guidelines, frameworks, and reporting requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving sustainability regulations, standards, and best practices, including GRI, SDGs, and ISSB frameworks. Align company sustainability reporting with the latest regulatory and industry standards. Collaborate with internal data owners and relevant departments to ensure accurate, complete, and timely sustainability data collection and reporting. Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators, investors, and partners, to address sustainability-related inquiries and promote transparency. Identify and implement initiatives to improve the company’s standing in the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index and other sustainability benchmarks. Continuously evaluate and enhance sustainability strategies, processes, and reporting mechanisms to drive measurable improvements and outcomes. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Proven experience in sustainability, ESG, or related roles within corporate environments. Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks, reporting standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GRI, SDGs, ISSB, Bank Negara guidelines). Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, especially in reviewing and interpreting sustainability data and reports. Effective communication and training skills to engage and educate employees at all levels. Ability to collaborate across functions and with diverse stakeholders. Proactive, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Commitment to continuous professional development in sustainability and related fields. Able to relocate to Taiping, Perak. Demonstrated familiarity with global and local sustainability reporting standards, including GRI, SDGs, ISSB guidelines, and Bank Negara Malaysia’s sustainability frameworks.
Sustainability Manager / Assistant Sustainability Manager
Overview
Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental and social standards across all business units. Integrate sustainability goals, strategies, and initiatives into business processes, product development, and production activities. Enhance the sustainability profile of products and production methods to align with best practices and market expectations.
Responsibilities
- Design, deliver, and coordinate employee training programmes to build awareness and capability in sustainability principles and practices.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate sustainability reports and documentation, including the annual Sustainability Statement.
- Develop and implement sustainability strategies, action plans, and programmes aligned with company objectives and stakeholder expectations.
- Review sustainability data and reports to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Respond promptly and accurately to sustainability-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Advise on the definition and interpretation of sustainability data metrics to ensure consistency and reliability in reporting.
