Job Description Summary
Commission and service larger power electrical equipment, including switchboards, automated voltage regulators (AVR), and drives. Provide technical support for installation, commissioning, maintenance, breakdown emergency support and remote troubleshooting.
Essential Responsibilities
- Pre‑commission, commission, and service static frequency converters (SFC) and variable frequency drives (VFD) for low and medium voltage.
- Pre‑commission, commission, and service low and medium voltage switchgear, transformers, and power systems.
- Provide technical assistance and supervision to customers on installations.
- Conduct on‑site interpretation of data and technical instruction.
- Report status, customer or equipment problems, and failures to management.
- Deliver on‑site guidance and training for proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned programs and ground support equipment.
- Assist the quality team with root cause analysis and generate reports for equipment malfunctions or failures.
- Review reported malfunctions and identify undesirable trends.
- Complete site documentation such as installation checklists, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning procedures.
- Hands‑on parts replacement, testing, and verification of electrical equipment.
- Inspect, repair, and test cooling units, including mechanical and instrumentation verifications.
- Perform rotating equipment testing and commissioning.
- Test auxiliaries (e.g., cooling fans, lubricating pumps) and verify temperature, pressure, and flow electronic sensors.
- Adhere to company Health & Safety policies and perform work safely.
- Interface with upper management, peers, and external stakeholders clearly and methodically.
Qualification / Requirements
Electrical Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university.Over 3 years of hands‑on experience in medium voltage drives and rotating equipment field service or maintenance.Experience in the metal business is an advantage.Strong understanding of Power Electronics, Electric Circuits, Power Systems, Medium Voltage, and Harmonics.Proficiency in at least one computer programming language.Experience with PLCs and rotating machines.Knowledge of rotating equipment motor windings, insulations, and medium voltage equipment.Hands‑on experience with test instruments (recorders, power analyzers, oscilloscopes, insulation resistance, Hipot, etc.).Good knowledge of rotating equipment theory and operation.Strong computer skills.Willing to travel 100%, including distant in‑country or overseas visits.Willing to work flexible hours, longer days, weekends, and holidays if needed.Capable of working on marine vessels and remaining offshore for defined periods.Willing to be mobilized on short notice.Good understanding of Health & Safety and associated risks.Desired Characteristics
