Safety and Health Officer (SHO)

Overview Ensure all project works are conducted in compliance to the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

Responsible for all the requirements and documents required by Occupational Health & Safety Department.

Has specific knowledge on OSH legislations, occupational risk assessment, preparation of safe operating procedure, monitoring the effectiveness of control measures, encouraging worker’s participation and continuously improving to ensure sustained compliance to OSH law.

Compile safety programs, practice safe working techniques, implement and maintain health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Supervises day-to-day activities within a construction workplace.

Conduct regular inspections to ensure everything is as it should be, identify and rectify hazards (e.g., unsafe conditions at the construction site).

Check subcontractors’ work to ensure compliance with the established act and regulations.

Ensure workers use the proper personal protective equipment for each work unit and ensure they understand how to use tools and equipment.

Determine the primary causes of work-related accidents and draw up recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Arrange training programs on safety measures within the workplace.

Receive and act on safety concerns reported by workers on the site / workplace.

Introduce measures to curb accidents within the workplace.

Ensure there is a safety programme / routine in place so everyone knows precautions and actions to take in case of an accident.

Attend site meetings as required.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Job Requirements :

Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced / Higher / Graduate Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Environmental / Health / Safety) or equivalent.

Candidate must be a registered Safety & Health Officer with the Occupational Safety & Health Department (DOSH) with a valid GREEN BOOK.

Experience in industrial projects will be an added advantage.

Required language(s) : Mandarin, English, Bahasa Malaysia. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

Competent and well-versed with the latest Occupational Health & Safety Act.

Ability to maintain effective work relationships and good organizational skills.

Able to work under a high-pressure environment.

Applicants must be able to work

6 days

in a week.
