Overview
Wood is recruiting for a Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer to join our Production Optimisation team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, supporting continued growth in the region. The role reports directly to the Flow Assurance Regional Manager for the APAC region and you will be working out of the Platinum Park building as part of an expanding global Flow Assurance team.
The Role
As a Senior CFD Engineer , you will execute studies related to complex fluid flow challenges and provide technical support on projects, ranging from conceptual to detailed engineering and operation support. You will have the opportunity to be involved in business development activities and work as part of a global team. Responsibilities
Execute studies related to fluid flow for different projects from concept through to detail engineering and operations support with guidance or supervision from Lead / Principal engineersDirectly lead the execution of smaller studiesProvide guidance to junior engineersParticipation in Wood’s global Production Optimization team knowledge-sharing initiativesDrive excellence in the execution and delivery of contracted activitiesResponsible for the quality of the deliverablesProvide technical review for complex projects within the area of expertiseContribute to business growth through regular engagement, relationship building, and client delivery, and identify opportunities to expand existing scopes of workQualifications
A minimum of 5 years of experience in complex fluid flow studiesA bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g., chemical, petroleum, mechanical, or similar)Demonstrated experience in executing onshore & offshore hydrocarbon field development projects or ad-hoc operational supportExperience in CCS, H2 transport and blending analysis, and cryogenic transport (e.g., LNG, ammonia, liquid H2) would be desirableDemonstrated experience in managing flow assurance issues (hydration-related scales, sand, asphaltene, etc.) and liquid managementFamiliarity with thermodynamic and flow simulators and design standards / codesHigh familiarity with flow assurance software (e.g., OLGA, PipeSim) and thermodynamic software (Multiflash or PVTSim). Experience with waterhammer / pressure surge simulators (e.g., PIPENET or AFT Impulse) is advantageousGood understanding of process modelling (separator, compressor, pump, heat exchanger, controller) and experience with process simulators (e.g., HYSYS and UNISIM) would be advantageousOral / written English proficiency to write reports and communicate with clientsHave valid work authorisation in MalaysiaTo be considered for this role apply NOW
