Responsibilities :
Responsible for the development / facilitation of an Infection Control Management System for the hospital. Provides on-going training and education to all staff on all aspects of infection control and acts as a resource person. Works with the Infection Control Committee to develop policies and procedures. With the assistance of the Infection Control Link Nurses, monitors hospital infection incidences and reports to the Infection Control Committee on the trends of infection within the hospital. Implements Infection Control policies and ensures compliance of infection control practices according to procedures.
Daily Routine :
1. To monitor hospital infection incidences and liaise with doctors and nurses on the corrective and preventive action to be taken.
2. To liaises with infection control link nurses and lab staff to collect data on infection control.
3. To conduct clinical surveillance throughout the hospital in order to assess the efficacy of infection control measures.
4. To analyse data and trends to detect outbreaks enabling early investigation and intervention in the control of the spread of infection.
5. To provide feedback on infection control issues to the Infection Control Committee
6. To ensure notifiable diseases are reported to the relevant Health Authorities
Qualifications :
Registered Nurse (RN) as recognized by the Nursing Board of Malaysia
Diploma / Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years' experience as Registered Nurse or similar capacity
Post basic certification / APSIC / Advanced diploma in related area
Strong organizational skills
Must maintain confidentiality
Able to work independently
Able to work with all levels of staff
