Role Overview
The Business Development Manager will drive market expansion, account acquisition, and revenue growth for Nutrition Asia in Malaysia. This role is responsible for identifying new opportunities, strengthening key accounts, and executing go-to-market strategies for sports nutrition and lifestyle brands distributed by Nutrition Asia.
The position requires monthly travel to Singapore for business reviews, cross-market alignment, and collaboration with the regional team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Market Expansion
- Prospect and secure new retail, B2B, and e-commerce accounts (e.g., Guardian, Supermarket, premium gyms, specialty wellness stores).
- Develop tailored proposals and pricing strategies to win new distribution and increase market share.
- Support pilot launches and consignment projects, negotiating listings and promotional opportunities.
2. Key Account Management
Manage and grow existing key accounts to achieve annual sales and distribution targets.Prepare and execute joint business plans with major retailers (Decathlon, LAC, Guardian), including margin objectives, assortment expansion and promotion.Track and report sell-through performance, inventory status, and promotional ROI.3. Trade Marketing & Execution
Collaborate with the Singapore marketing team to implement in-store activations, merchandising campaigns, and digital promotions.Ensure coordination with MerchandisersEnsure proper documentation with Sales support team for imports4. Market Intelligence & Strategy
Monitor competitor activities, pricing trends, and consumer behaviour to identify new opportunities and risks.Provide regular feedback on category trends and recommend strategies for new product launches and channel development.5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with supply chain, finance, and operations to ensure smooth product flow and timely fulfilment.Participate in monthly Singapore HQ meetings, presenting performance updates and growth plans.Key Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, or a related field.3–5 years of experience in business development, key account management, or FMCG sales, preferably in sports nutrition, health & wellness, or retail distribution.Strong negotiation and presentation skills with a proven record of securing new accounts.Familiarity with consignment models, trade marketing, and retail operations is advantageous.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships across cultures.Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and sales reporting tools.Willingness to travel once a month to Singapore for business meetings.Performance Metrics (KPIs)
