Location : Maybank, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Responsibilities
- Leverage legal background with specialization in Data Protection Law and experience in data protection / privacy work.
- Oversee the effective management and handling of sensitive data.
- Advise and support internal stakeholders in conducting data protection risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with new initiatives or projects.
- Act as subject matter expert on data protection and privacy matters, providing consultancy and advisory support to internal stakeholders.
- Develop training materials, communications, and awareness programs on data ethics, privacy, and data protection to align with business goals and educate employees on responsibilities, rights, and obligations regarding data privacy and security.
- Develop, review, enhance, and implement frameworks, policies, and procedures reflecting best practices, emerging technologies, and evolving regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with internal stakeholders, particularly information security, risk, compliance, legal, and business teams.
- Where required, serve as a point of contact for regulatory and data protection authorities on data-related matters, including responding to regulatory surveys.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Law, Information Management, or a related field with couple of experience in data protection, compliance, ethics / governance, or a related function.Professional certifications such as CIPP / CIPM or equivalent privacy certifications are highly advantageous.Strong competency in data protection laws and best practices, with proven experience in developing and implementing data protection compliance programs.Knowledge of data protection laws and regulations within the South East Asian region is a plus.Understanding of designing and implementing data protection methods is an advantage.Familiarity with IT infrastructure and cloud-based technologies is a plus.Prior experience in financial services, digital, or fintech industry is preferred.Ability to explain complex issues in a practical, outcome-focused manner.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with strong collaboration and teamwork orientation.Ability to work effectively with diverse internal stakeholders including data professionals, legal, compliance, and business teams.#J-18808-Ljbffr
