Overview
The onboard Accountant – Revenue & Gaming Audit is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all revenue-generating activities across the vessel, including hotel operations, food & beverage outlets, gaming, retail, and guest services. This role also contributes to broader finance operations onboard, including drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for established processes and assisting with general finance tasks as required.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Audit & Reconciliation
- Audit daily revenue transactions across all outlets : Hotel, F&B, Gaming, Retail, Spa, Shore Excursions, and Guest Services
- Reconcile Point-of-Sale (POS), Property Management System (PMS), and Gaming system data with financial records
- Investigate discrepancies and escalate irregularities to the Finance Manager
- Ensure accurate posting of revenue entries in compliance with internal controls
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare daily revenue summaries and audit reports for onboard and shore-side finance teamsSupport month-end closing procedures and variance analysisMaintain organized documentation for internal and external auditsAssist in compiling revenue data for statutory and corporate reportingSystem Oversight & Integration
Monitor data flow between POS, PMS, Gaming, and ERP systemsCoordinate with IT and Operations to resolve system-related issues impacting revenue integritySupport integration testing and SOP alignment for revenue-related systemsCompliance & Controls
Ensure adherence to company revenue recognition policies and audit standardsMonitor cash handling procedures and credit card settlementsAssist in fraud prevention and internal control assessmentsParticipate in onboard financial audits and compliance reviewsCross-Functional Collaboration
Liaise with Hotel, F&B, Casino, Retail, and Guest Services teams to ensure accurate revenue captureProvide training and guidance on revenue procedures and audit readinessCollaborate with shore-side finance and audit teams for continuous improvementSOP Development & Process Documentation
Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for established revenue audit and reconciliation processesSubmit SOPs for review and approval by the onboard Finance ManagerMaintain updated documentation aligned with company policies and audit standardsGeneral Finance Support
Perform finance-related tasks as assigned by the Chief Accountant or Financial ControllerProvide support during budget preparation, variance analysis, and ad hoc reportingAssist with compliance and documentation for statutory or corporate requirementsQualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldMinimum 3–5 years of experience in revenue audit or financial control, preferably in hospitality, gaming, or cruise operationsFamiliarity with POS, PMS, and gaming audit systems (e.g., Shiji, Oracle, Agilysys, or similar)Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and internal controlsExperience with cruise ship operations is a plusSkills & Competencies
