Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

In this position, you will join our Buildings business, where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that “bring ideas to life” for our clients across all types of projects. Here are the key things you will do to “bring ideas to life”. Lead and deliver mechanical design packages from concept through detailed design, documentation, and construction support for building services projects. Prepare technical specifications, design reports, calculations, and cost estimates aligned with project requirements and industry standards. Apply design-led thinking and digital engineering tools to develop efficient, sustainable, and innovative mechanical systems. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, structural engineers, and other building services disciplines. Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and workshops to ensure alignment with project goals and client expectations. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers within the team. Support tender preparation, fee proposals, and business development activities. Ensure compliance with local and international codes, standards, and regulations. Use BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, BIM360) to develop and review 3D models, identify coordination issues, and drive resolution. You will also need the following : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering 8–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design for building services, with at least 2–3 years in data centre design or similar high-performance environments Proven experience working in a consulting engineering firm, ideally on multidisciplinary projects Strong understanding of HVAC, chilled water systems, ventilation, fire protection, and energy-efficient design principles Proficiency in design and documentation tools such as E-20, CANUTE FHC, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud Demonstrated ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outcomes A collaborative mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation Our Aurecon Attributes define our way of being – they are a collection of qualities that makes us who we are.
