The group you’ll be a part of
The Manufacturing Engineering team will be part of Lam Manufacturing Malaysia Operations, reporting into Global Operations. This function will partner with the other Operations team in Malaysia such as Manufacturing, Quality, Order Fulfilment, Logistics to deliver Operations Excellence, driving high quality, productivity and cost-effective performance in the safest environment.
The impact you’ll make
In this position, as Manufacturing Engineering Manager your will lead a team of engineers to develop, implement and maintain operation methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. You will work across organization functions to resolve technical, quality and production challenges, as well as opportunity to develop excellence in product design and manufacturing. The candidate should have good experience in semiconductor fab, very familiar with capital equipment and challenges.
What You’ll Do
- Lead a manufacturing engineering organization in a dynamic, multi-product, multi-factory, global company
- Lead the engineering team on new process and module deployment including defining the criteria, designs, documents, builds, calibrates, troubleshoots and meet / exceed all safety, quality, cost efficiency and productivity deliverables
- Drive systems to maintain effective documentation of company products and resolve process and assembly issues cross functionally with Suppliers, Supplier Engineering, Pilot Manufacturing, and Design Engineering
- Provide guidance on ERP system usage – SAP to manage day to day assembly issues
- Influence design decisions - BOM structure, product commonality, component selection
- To accelerate product transition and improve cost and quality performance
- Requires capability to understand and explain Assembly Work Instructions
- Delivering to product / program objectives for manufacturing quality, labor content, cycle time, and factory fitment
- Requires capability to collaborate effectively across organizational and functional boundaries to achieve world-class DFMA results
- Drive innovative continuous improvement programs to safety / ergo aspect, improve assembly method & reduce assembly labor hours
- Requires strong and balanced background in engineering, people management and manufacturing
- Provide sustaining excellence strategy in Wafer Fabrication Equipment through lean manufacturing environment
Who We’re Looking For
Bachelor\'s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or other related courses8+ years of related experience and at least 8+ years in engineering and / or manufacturing managementCapable to read mechanical drawings and schematic diagramExperience leading and scaling teams of design, systems, and / or manufacturing engineers in a high-customization production environmentDemonstrated capability to collaborate effectively across organizational and functional boundaries in a large-sized organizationExcellent interpersonal communication and people management skillsStrong analytical skills, including statistical analysisStrong structured problem-solving skills and understanding of root cause analysisFamiliar with virtual manufacturing and model-based-design (MBD) techniquesExperience with PFMEA and assembly mistake proofing methodologiesResult oriented with ability to manage and scale an organizationPreferred Qualifications
Knowledge in 3D design software such as NX Creo, Solidworks and Teamcenter will be added advantageStrong knowledge in SAP systems and applications will be added advantageComfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; the ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situationsFamiliarity with virtual manufacturing and model-based-design (MBD) techniquesWillingness to travel in support of global responsibility set (up to 30%, occasional international)Our commitment

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer / supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer / supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
