Job Overview As a
Customs Clearance Supervisor , you will lead and oversee all customs clearance operations for air and sea shipments at our Bayan Lepas hub. You will be responsible for ensuring that every shipment is cleared on time and in full compliance with Malaysian Customs regulations, while advising customers on duty and tax implications. In this role, you will coordinate closely with Royal Malaysian Customs, OGAs, carriers, and internal teams, supervise and coach your clearance team, and continuously update procedures to reflect the latest regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and manage daily customs clearance activities to ensure accurate and timely processing of shipments
Prepare, review, and submit customs declarations with proper HS classification and supporting documents
Advise customers and internal stakeholders on duty / tax assessments, import / export requirements, preferential tariffs (FTA), excise, and exemptions
Liaise with Royal Malaysian Customs, OGAs, carriers, warehouses, and service providers to resolve inspections, holds, and disputes
Lead, coach, and develop the customs team; assign workloads and monitor KPIs (lead-time, documentation accuracy, customer satisfaction)
Maintain and update SOPs, compliance checklists, and implement changes in line with updated customs rules, LMW requirements, or AEO guidance
Identify opportunities for process improvement, duty mitigation, and cost optimisation
Support audits, compliance checks, and prepare timely operational reporting
What Were Looking For
Diploma / Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, or related field
3 to 5 years of hands-on customs clearance experience in freight forwarding, 3PL, or import / export environment is compulsory; at least 1 year in a leadership role preferred
Active
Kursus Ejen Kastam
certification (mandatory)
Strong knowledge of Malaysian Customs regulations, HS codes, tariff classification, OGA permits, and EDI systems
Skilled in calculating and explaining duties / taxes to customers
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills in
English and Bahasa Malaysia
Proficient in MS Excel and cargo / EDI systems
Proven leadership skills with experience in supervising and developing teams
Detail-oriented, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
