Overview
Position Title : Human Resources Specialist
Target Markets : Asia
This is a remote role with the option to be on-site. The business is based in Malaysia, and the role focuses on cruise operations across Asia. The role is a 4-month, full-time contract, ideal for someone who has managed HR across Deck, Engine, and Hotel departments in a cruise environment. Remote work is available with the option to be based onshore in Johor if preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with setting cruise related HR policies and procedures across Deck, Engine, and Hotel departments.
- Work with the team to manage end-to-end recruitment, contracting, and onboarding of seafarers and hospitality crew.
- Coordinate with international manning agencies to ensure timely and compliant crew mobilization.
- Ensure compliance with STCW, MLC, flag state, and other maritime regulations.
- Manage crew documentation, medicals, visas, and training certifications.
- Support development of compensation structures, payroll processes, and rotation schedules.
- Work closely with leadership and local HR to align processes with global cruise industry best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 7–10 years of HR experience in the cruise or maritime industry.Proven background handling crew recruitment and contracts across Deck, Engine, and Hotel departments.Deep understanding of maritime compliance frameworks (STCW, MLC, flag state requirements).Strong experience coordinating with international cruise manning agencies.Ability to work independently, remotely, and deliver under tight timelines.Excellent communication and organizational skills.4-month full-time contract role (remote).Competitive contract fee, commensurate with experience.Seniority & Employment
