Overview

Job Title : Staff Engineer, Hardware Design (Electrical / Mechanical) at Celestica. This role is based in Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia, Region Asia. Remote Position : No. Job Code : SEN-ENG-DHW. Job Band : 10. Direct / Indirect Indicator : Indirect.

Summary : The Staff Engineer, Hardware Design works with cross functional teams including other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Responsible for enhancing designs with feedback from reviews across manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. Provides support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical / mechanical system they designed. The role encompasses both Electrical and Mechanical design responsibilities as described below.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following :

• Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects across multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
• Provide technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. May be a recognized expert in one or more technical areas.
• Take responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials, etc.).
• Review and interpret customer requirements / specifications and may act as primary customer contact.
• Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develop deployment strategies and plans.
• Lead the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
• May manage relationships with key vendors / partners.
• Research systems ideas and draw up plans for these systems.
• Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs.
• Create designs in line with Celestica procedures, regulations and customer standards.
• Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.
• Solve complex problems.
• Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
• Recommend system modifications.
