We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounting and Finance Manager to join our growing team in Malaysia. This position will oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensure accurate transaction coding, and ensure compliance with Malaysian tax regulations and corporate finance policies. In addition, the Accounting and Finance Manager will help establish Selkirk Sport Malaysia's financial and accounting systems. You will implement and optimize Selkirk's ERP (Sage Intacct) as the foundation for Malaysia's finance and accounting infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bridge local financial practices with Selkirk's standards and play a key role in scaling our presence in the region.
Key Responsibilities :
Accounting Operations
- Manage and monitor all day-to-day accounting transactions, including AP / AR, GL entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end closings.
- Oversee the accurate classification and department coding of transactions across all financial systems.
- Maintain and update accounting ledgers in compliance with local standards (MPERS / MFRS) and IFRS.
- Lead payroll processing, expense tracking, and employee reimbursements in coordination with HR and external service providers.
- Work closely with the local HR Manager to ensure timely payroll processing.
- Work with a US-based finance team to develop accounting and reporting systems, build scalable reporting structures directly integrated with Sage Intacct and enhanced through automation tools.
Financial Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with all Malaysian tax regulations, including SST, corporate income tax, withholding tax, and monthly PCB / EPF / SOCSO contributions.Prepare and file monthly / quarterly / annual tax returns and statutory submissions to the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), EPF, and other regulatory bodies.Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for audits and tax reviews.Generate financial reports for local and global management with insightful KPIs and variance analysis.Leverage AI to support the business and find efficiencies.
Process Improvement & Control
Establish internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure data integrity and prevent errors or fraud.Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to streamline finance workflows.Assist in implementing financial systems and automation tools as the team scales. Lead adoption of Sage Intacct as the ERP platform and actively deploy AI-driven tools to scale efficiencies across finance operations.
Business Support
Liaise with local suppliers, customers, and partners on billing, payment, and compliance matters.Provide finance-related guidance to other local departments to ensure policy alignment.Support cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting activities as required with a focus on predictive, AI-enhanced modeling.Qualifications : Experience
5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably in a multinational or consumer goods environment.Experience working with Malaysian regulatory entities.Proficiency in ERP systems, Sage Intacct as the core ERP system or similar systems experience is preferredAI tools, Microsoft and Google product suites proficiencySkills
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredCA (Malaysia), ACCA, MICPA (CPA Malaysia), ICAEW, CPA (U.S.), or equivalent professional accounting certification, with eligibility for MIA membership, is strongly preferredStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.Ability to communicate effectively in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.Comfortable working independently and across time zones with remote teams.Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to apply first-principles reasoning, adopt ERP practices, and leverage AI for continuous process improvement.Why Join Selkirk Sport?
