Overview

LG Electronics Inc. ("LGE"), together with its subsidiaries and affiliates (the "LG Group", "we", "our" or "us"), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to the personal information we process through the lg.com website (the "Website"), other LG Group websites, LG Accounts, and SmartHome services via the ThinQ App (the "Services"). It also applies to any other personal information you provide to your local LG Group member.

The LG Group may also use personal information collected via the Smart TV / Media Product service as described in this Privacy Policy. In this Privacy Policy we describe the types of personal information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, with whom we share it, and the rights you have in relation to your information, including a right to object to some processing (if provided by law). Details on your rights and how to exercise them are in the “Your Rights” section. We also provide contact details to address questions about this Privacy Policy and our privacy practices.

1. Who is responsible for your Personal Information?

Your local LG entity is responsible for operating the Website or other LG Group websites in your country and for information about you collected through the Website. LGE is responsible for operating all other Services and for information about you collected through or in connection with those Services. The name and contact details of your local LG entity and LGE can be found in the “Contact Us” section below.

2. Personal Information We Collect

The following types of personal information are collected in connection with our Services :

  • Information You Provide Directly to us or third parties

Some Services enable collection directly from you or from other companies with whom you have a relationship. For example :

  • When you use our Services (e.g., create an LG Account, register a device or product, purchase, review a product, or contact us), you provide information such as your name, email, phone number, date of birth, gender, account information (LG account profile, user ID, password, Home ID, speaker’s voice and translated text, photo, video, payment card information, tax code, shipping address, purchase information, and interactions with connected devices).
  • When you log in with a third-party account, we may access information such as your name, email address, and social media tags.
  • When you communicate with our customer service staff, we process these communications and other information needed to respond to queries and requests.
  • Information about Your Use of Our Services
  • Device information : device name, IMEI, UUID, OS version, country, location, language, IP address, MAC address, connected modem information, router information, mobile ad identifier and device settings.
  • Product information : model name, manufacturer number, date and location of purchase, photo of receipt.
  • Location information : processed with consent or when necessary to deliver the requested service (e.g., to provide directions).
  • Other information about use of our Services, such as visited websites, autofill typing patterns, connected device behavior, history of use, and power usage data.

  • Links to Other Websites, Devices, Apps and Features

    • Our Services may connect to other websites or devices which have their own privacy notices. We are not responsible for content or privacy practices of linked sites or features not owned or controlled by us.

    3. How We Use this Information

    We may combine personal information across services when you use more than one service, to provide the services and features you select and to simplify logins.

  • Provision of services based on your contractual relationship

    • We process personal information as necessary under our contract with you to provide services, process orders and payments, deliver products, exercise warranty rights, identify and authenticate you, facilitate installations and registrations, resolve issues, and provide customer care.

  • Legitimate interests of the LG Group and / or third parties

    • We process information to manage relationships, conduct direct marketing (where not required by law to obtain consent), protect against fraud and threats, protect security and integrity of services, protect legal rights and safety, improve user experience, and analyze usage to improve offerings globally. We balance interests where required by law and will provide information on the balancing test upon request.

  • The LG Group and personnel : sharing within LG Group and with personnel / contractors to provide services and fulfill purposes.

  • Third party IoT providers : sharing to enable features when activating IoT connectivity.
  • Authorized resellers : in certain countries, resellers may receive your information.
  • Advertising partners and other business partners : for measuring ad effectiveness and marketing alignment.
  • Visitors to our Website : public areas may be viewable by others (we indicate where information will be visible).
  • Business advisors, government authorities, regulatory bodies, and corporate transactions : where required or to facilitate mergers, acquisitions or other corporate actions.

    We retain information for as long as needed to provide services, to comply with laws, to resolve disputes, or for legitimate business purposes. If you delete your LG Account, information may be retained for three months before deletion, unless required otherwise by law.

    You may be contacted by email, phone, text, or push notifications where permitted. You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time. Some service messages related to your contract may still be sent.

    You may request access to, deletion, correction, restriction, or portability of your personal data where provided by law. You may also object to processing in certain circumstances. Some rights may be exercised directly via the Website in some cases.

    8. How We Protect Personal Information

    We implement reasonable safeguards to protect information. No online transmission is completely secure, so there is risk in sending data over the internet.
