We are seeking a Installation & Service Technician to be part of our team in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, where you will play a key role in supporting both our business operations and people.

Installation & Service Technician (Based in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya)

Responsibilities :

Installation & Construction :

  • Perform full mechanical and electrical installations of residential solar PV and battery storage systems as part of a crew.
  • Execute all aspects of the installation process, including array layout, mounting racking, installing panels, and routing wiring.
  • Assist in setting up inverters, combiners, and essential load panels.
  • Ensure all installation work meets company quality standards, manufacturer specifications, and National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance.

Diagnostic Troubleshooting :

  • Perform advanced diagnostic testing and troubleshooting on existing residential solar arrays, inverters, battery storage systems, and monitoring equipment to identify the root cause of performance issues or faults.
  • Utilize multimeters, clamp meters, and other diagnostic tools to assess system performance and electrical values.

    • Repair & Maintenance :

  • Execute repairs and replace failed components (inverters, panels, optimizers, modules, breakers, cabling, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance services and system health checks to ensure optimal long-term production.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance for solar panels (cleaning, visual checks), inverters (filter cleaning, tightening terminals) and DC / AC combiner boxes, breakers and fuses.
  • Address and repair wiring issues and communication errors.

    • System Commissioning & Customer Interaction :

  • Assist with or perform final commissioning, testing, and activation of new installations.
  • Conduct electrical testing (IR test, IV secure, earth resistance, string current test, etc).
  • Use thermal imaging, multimeters, insulation testers as needed.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for homeowners, both during installations and service calls. Clearly explain technical issues, processes, and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.

    • Safety & Compliance :

  • Strictly adhere to and model all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA guidelines. Conduct and participate in job site safety meetings.
  • Always utilize proper Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations and building codes.

    • Administrative Duties :

  • Accurately document all installation and service activities, including photos, checklists, parts used, and time spent.
  • Manage inventory of parts and tools in the company vehicle.
  • Support monthly and quarterly performance reporting.

    • Requirements :

  • Experience : Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation is required. Experience with troubleshooting or electrical repair is a strong plus.
  • Technical Skills :

    • o   Proficiency in residential roofing techniques, flashings, and weatherization.

    o   Strong understanding of electrical principles (AC / DC) and ability to work with wiring and circuits.

    o   Ability to use multimeters, clamp meters, and other diagnostic tools for troubleshooting.

    o   Ability to read and interpret site plans, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • Physical Requirements :  Must be able to :

    • o   Lift 50+ pounds repeatedly.

    o   Work on rooftops at various heights and angles.

    o   Work outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions.

  • Skills :

    • o   Versatility :  Ability to switch effectively between the physical demands of installation and the analytical demands of troubleshooting.

    o   Problem-Solving :  Excellent diagnostic and critical-thinking skills.

    o   Customer-Focused :  Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills for both installation and service interactions.

    o   Teamwork & Independence :  Works well as part of an installation crew and independently on service calls.
