Data Storage Product Maintenance Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, monitor, and perform routine maintenance of enterprise-level data storage systems (e.g., Dell EMC, NetApp, Huawei OceanStor / Dorado / Pacific).
  • Conduct regular health checks, capacity planning, and optimization of storage devices to ensure high availability.
  • Troubleshoot storage system failures (e.g., hardware malfunctions, bottlenecks, data inconsistencies), perform root cause analysis, and prepare reports.
  • Collaborate with network and server teams to troubleshoot cross-domain issues and ensure business continuity.
  • Manage backup strategies (e.g., Veritas NetBackup, Veeam) and disaster recovery solutions (synchronous / asynchronous replication), including regular recovery drills.
  • Ensure data security and regulatory compliance; prepare operation manuals and MOPs for fault handling; participate in technical solution reviews.
  • Assist development teams in optimizing storage architecture and provide capacity expansion recommendations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Skills : Proficient in mainstream storage protocols (iSCSI, FC, NFS / CIFS, S3 object storage) and RAID technologies; expertise in at least one enterprise storage product (e.g., Dell PowerStore, NetApp FAS series, Huawei Dorado); familiarity with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and hyper-converged infrastructure (VMware VSAN, Nutanix); scripting skills (Python / Shell) for automation (e.g., log analysis, alert handling).
  • Soft Skills : 3-5 years of storage operations experience; strong analytical skills to diagnose issues using monitoring tools; excellent cross-team communication and adaptability.
  • Preferred Qualifications : Vendor certifications (e.g., EMC DCA, NetApp NCDA, Huawei HCIP / HCIE) or other related certifications.
