Job Purpose

As an associate play therapist, your primary responsibility is to provide therapeutic support to children affected by cancer and their families. Using play-based approaches, you will help children express their emotions, process the challenges of diagnosis and treatment, and build coping skills, fostering resilience and emotional well-being throughout their cancer journey.

Job Location

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological support to children affected by cancer using play therapy approaches through face-to-face sessions, virtual consultations, and home visits.
  • Formulate individualised therapy plans and provide case management.
  • Maintain proper case records and progress records in the patient database system.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary psychosocial team of healthcare professionals comprising mental health professionals, dietitians, and patient navigators.
  • Participate in community engagements for childhood-related community outreach, programme planning, coordination, and when needed.

Requirements

  • Accredited and certified play therapist
  • Registered under a professional body for play therapy (e.g., Play Therapy UK)
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and / or Tamil will be an additional advantage
