Penerangan pekerjaanModernize key internal policies across security, privacy, product, and operations Establish scalable legal workflows for international growth Strengthen legal hygiene and documentation standards Identify gaps and design simple, repeatable systems Maintain core GDPR‑aligned operations (DPAs, DPIAs, LIAs, sub‑processor updates) Translate regulatory requirements into practical, defensible decisions Approach privacy as a design and judgment discipline, not box‑ticking Embed privacy‑aware practices across Product, Engineering, and Customer Operations Coordinate with external counsel for high‑complexity matters Work directly with the executive team on high‑impact projects that define how we scale Support cross‑company initiatives that shape how we operate Coordinate with external advisors across compliance, tax, and corporate matters 5 to 8 years in commercial or technology law Strong grounding in SaaS contracting and negotiation Working knowledge of GDPR and data protection Experience collaborating with GTM, Product, Security, and Finance teams Business‑first judgment with a practical approach to risk Comfortable operating in ambiguity and designing clarity where none exists Enjoys building systems from scratch Clear communicator who simplifies complex issues Operates with high ownership in a fast‑moving environment Build the legal function from zero for a fast‑scaling SaaS company Work directly with the executive team on meaningful, high‑impact initiatives Shape commercial posture, privacy operations, and governance as we expand Clear growth runway into a future leadership role when the function scales
Lead Counsel – Respond.io
Location : Malaysia or Remote
Experience : 5 to 8 years in commercial or technology law
Respond.io is hiring our first in‑house lawyer. You will create the legal foundation that supports our next phase of scale and work directly with the executive team across commercial, privacy, and company‑level projects.
What You Will Do
Commercial (Primary)
- Lead negotiations for customer, partner, reseller, vendor, and procurement contracts
- Shape our negotiation posture and create systems that improve deal velocity
- Build templates, fallback positions, and contracting playbooks
- Enable non‑lawyers with clear tools and guidance
