Role : Lead Network Engineer
Candidate is responsible for solution design, implementation, and operational support of Abbott's global manufacturing businesses. This position will serve as the technical lead for projects involving complex planning for all Abbott manufacturing sites including detailed design creation, proposals, analysis, project preparation / implementation / and support. Responsible for timely interaction with customers of the platform, peer technologists, and senior management. The ideal candidate will have experience in routing, switching, wireless access, firewall controls, and load balancing.

JOB SCOPE
Role : Lead Network Engineer
The role focuses on solution design, implementation, and ongoing support across Abbott’s manufacturing network environments, with responsibility for technical leadership on projects, detailed design, proposals, analysis, and project execution. Maintains engagement with customers, peers, and senior management. Expertise in routing, switching, wireless, firewall controls, and load balancing is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design large scale site LAN and WLAN implementations including switches, firewalls, and other network hardware.
- Define requirements to support budget plans, and recommend improvements to performance, cost, and business alignment.
- Define architecture and hardware requirements for project proposals.
- Design, execute, and support day-to-day service requests.
- Lead large-scale manufacturing network refresh projects and divisional expansion projects.
- Evaluate and identify opportunities for network performance and functionality improvements within the enterprise network for responsible technologies.
- Participate in development efforts to bring automation into the network environment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Negotiate technical design and deployment strategy with key stakeholders and service consumers.
- Serve as the platform technical subject matter expert and provide consulting support to business and end-user organizations.
- Produce and maintain timely, accurate engineering documentation.
- Partner with Abbott’s Cybersecurity organization in conducting security and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with corporate security policies and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership to the network team in the region.
- Integrate technical expertise with communication, leadership, and business skills in a team environment.
Position Accountability / Scope
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.Mastery of concepts and theory of network security; adept knowledge of data networking, including switching, routing, and TCP / IP fundamentals.Knowledge of encryption protocols and awareness of vulnerabilities and mitigations.Strong customer-centric approach and excellent communication skills.Responsible for supporting the global Abbott manufacturing landscape with focus on assigned sites in the region.Keeps abreast of industry trends and makes recommendations based on these trends.Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunication, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience / education.Active certifications : CISSP, CCNP, CCSE, CCIE.8+ years of networking experience with multinational enterprises of 5000+ users.Experience in regulated environments is a plus.8+ years designing enterprise-scale routing and switching environments, MPLS / VPN, WLAN, firewalls, monitoring tools, network topologies, load balancing, and WAN acceleration / QoS.Experience in healthcare-related industries is a plus.Required Skills
