Brief Overview
Project Manager leads and manages the large and key project plans for multi-disciplined operations‑led initiatives. This includes managing intake of new projects; working with leadership to identify the project team; assigning projects in the project tracking database; and tracking progress of team projects. Develops charters, establishes work plans, and manages project scope, issues, changes, communications and quality. Provides assistance in accomplishing strategic goals and objectives. Carries out all agreed‑upon department goals and objectives, and any other tasks deemed necessary to ensure the success of the department; assisting with the implementation of industry best practices and achieving the highest degree of project success in business development and implementation.
What You Will Do
- Serves as single point of contact for key operations business improvement or project initiatives, creating project plans and providing regular status updates on the progress of projects.
- Maintains ongoing understanding of progress of all projects and raises awareness when variances from plan begin to emerge. Keeps the project tracking database up to date and accurate and communicates regular project status ensuring on‑time, on‑budget and error‑free delivery based on service standards.
- Recommends areas of process improvement in project management methodologies that improve on‑time and error‑free delivery, and proposes training as needed.
- Builds and continually nurtures relationships with cross‑functional associates at all levels and across the organization in order to best support the needs of business units, as well as to understand any regional and / or cultural sensitivities, influences or market conditions.
- Reviews new projects with and provides feedback, analysis and management reports to leadership and key project resources.
- Works with leaders and project sponsors to determine project acceptance criteria based on those determined by senior leadership as well as those that have been identified in plans as supporting business development objectives.
- Reviews new projects with management and sponsors and assigns new projects to identified team members, enters new project into project tracking database and prioritizes in accordance with department guidelines.
- Provides post‑delivery follow‑up, facilitates lessons learned, implements process improvements that aid in increasing efficiency, reducing rework, enhancing quality, etc.
- Takes a lead role in the execution of key department projects and initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts / Sciences (BA / BS) or equivalent related work experience required.7+ Years experience in a project management position required.Hands‑on experience in managing complex automated projects required.Financial services experience required.Proven process improvement experience within a large corporate organization required.Reinsurance industry experience preferred.Experience with Project Management Office preferred.MS Project experience preferred.Advanced MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel required.Basic Query skills required.Intermediate project management skills required.Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability required.Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge required.Ability to quickly adapt to new methods and work under tight deadlines. Ability to balance detail with departmental and RGA goals / objectives required.Ability to set goals, multitask and prioritize workload required.Advanced investigative, analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to translate business needs and problems into technical solutions required.Ability to work independently and coordinate activities of a team.
