Job Description – BIM Modeler

Role Overview

The BIM Modeler will be responsible for developing and managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) content to support project design, coordination, and execution. The role focuses on producing accurate 3D / 4D / 5D models, drawings, and documentation that comply with Wastech Engineering's project requirements, standards, and client expectations. The BIM Modeler will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and consultants to ensure seamless design integration and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Model Development & Documentation

Develop, update, and manage 3D models (structural, architectural, MEP) using Autodesk Revit and other BIM tools.

  • Generate construction drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings from BIM models.
  • Ensure accuracy, level of detail, and compliance with project BIM standards and client requirements.

Coordination & Collaboration

Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project teams to resolve design conflicts through clash detection and coordination.

  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings and assist in model integration across disciplines.
  • Support project managers in project planning, sequencing, and visualization using BIM.

    • Quality & Standards

    Maintain BIM libraries, templates, and standard details for consistency.

  • Ensure all models and drawings comply with Wastech Engineering BIM protocols and industry best practices.
  • Conduct quality checks to identify and correct errors in models and drawings.

    • Project Support

    Provide BIM support during tender submissions, design development, and construction stages.

  • Assist in preparing quantity take-offs, schedules, and material tracking from models.
  • Support digital engineering initiatives, including 4D scheduling and 5D cost estimation (if required).

    • Requirements

  • Education : Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or related discipline.

    • Experience :

    2–5 years of relevant experience in BIM modeling within engineering, construction, or related industries.

  • Experience in infrastructure, civil, or MEP projects will be an advantage.

    • Technical Skills :

    Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and BIM collaboration tools.

  • Knowledge of BIM execution plans, standards (e.g., ISO 19650), and model coordination.
  • Understanding of construction drawings, detailing, and project workflows.

    • Soft Skills :

    Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
