Responsibilities

• Food Preparation Support : Assist chefs in basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients. Ensure all ingredients handled are Halal-certified in line with MS 2610 Muslim-Friendly Hospitality Services.
• Kitchen Cleaning & Sanitation : Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen by washing dishes, cleaning utensils, and sanitizing workstations. Ensure that all kitchen areas meet food safety standards and Halal guidelines.
• Equipment Maintenance : Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment by cleaning and storing it properly after use. Report any malfunctions or damages to the supervisor for prompt repair.
• Stock Management : Help in unpacking, organizing, and storing kitchen supplies and ingredients. Ensure that all items are stored correctly, with Halal-certified products clearly labeled and stored separately if needed.
• Waste Management : Dispose of kitchen waste appropriately, separating recyclables and organic waste as per the kitchen’s waste management policy. Ensure minimal waste by assisting in portion control and proper ingredient handling.
• Assisting with Meal Preparation : Support the cooking process by performing tasks such as mixing ingredients, preparing simple dishes, or garnishing plates under the chef’s supervision.
• Compliance with Standards : Follow all safety, hygiene, and Halal standards as directed by the kitchen management. Participate in regular training on MS 2610 standards and Halal food handling.
