Job Summary
The Head of Account & Finance oversees the company’s end-to-end financial operations, accuracy, compliance, and accountability across all financial activities. This role safeguards TudungPeople’s financial integrity through disciplined control, timely reporting, and audit readiness—serving as the backbone of sound governance and fiscal discipline. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and demonstrates strong analytical and leadership capabilities, with hands‑on experience in Malaysia’s accounting and tax compliance environment.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility 1 : Overview Financial Management & Reporting
Provide monthly management accounts, financial statements, and cash‑flow reports to ensure compliance with Malaysia Private Entities Reporting Standard (MPERS).
Ensure all financial documents, receipts, and proofs of payment are properly filed and audit‑ready.
Prepare and maintain financial schedules, including Fixed Asset, Term Loan, Hire Purchase, Rental & Deposit schedules.
Ensure timely month‑end closing, reconciliations, and accurate record‑keeping.
Responsibility 2 : Cash Flow Management & Reporting
Monitor company cash position to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
Manage accounts payables and receivables functions, ensuring prompt collections and settlements.
Track capital expenditures and monitor financial health indicators.
Maintain accurate payment schedules for payroll, rental, and other obligations.
Responsibility 3 : Compliance & Internal Control
Ensure compliance with statutory timelines for audit, tax filing and other obligations.
Maintain all company statutory records in accordance with the Companies Act 2016.
Implement and review internal control procedures (cash handling policy, petty cash policy, inventory management, etc.).
Ensure compliance with e‑invoicing requirements under LHDN regulations.
Manage all statutory submissions (EPF, SOCSO, PCB, Zakat, CP204) and ensure confidentiality of payroll and financial data.
Recommend improvements to financial workflows, cost structures, and internal efficiency.
Responsibility 4 : Audit & Tax Compliance
Liaise with external auditors and tax agents to facilitate timely completion of audits and tax filings.
Prepare and review supporting documentation for audit purposes.
Address audit findings and implement corrective measures where necessary.
Responsibility 5 : Analysis & Decision Support
Conduct financial and variance analysis to provide insight for management decisions.
Support budgeting for new projects, retail expansion and operational planning.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure spending alignment, cost efficiency and compliance with internal controls.
Review and advise on business agreements to ensure financial and legal soundness for the company.
Responsibility 6 : Leadership & Departmental Support
Supervise and review the work of Accounts and Finance Executives.
Provide coaching, training, and guidance to ensure team productivity and accuracy.
Collaborate with management on operational finance matters requiring clarification or policy alignment.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
Membership
Membership with a recognised Accounting Body (ACCA, MIA, CPA, etc.) is an advantage.
Experience
Minimum 3‑5 years of accounting experience, preferably in retail, fashion or FMCG sectors.
Experience in external audit of retails, fashion or FMCG industries is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of MPERS, tax compliance and Companies Act 2016.
Proficient in accounting systems such as SQL, AutoCount or other similar accounting software, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Proven ability to manage subordinates and liaise directly with senior management.
Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, audit preparation and internal control implementation.
Track record of ensuring timely, accurate and compliant financial processes.
