3D Character Artist Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Work Type : Full Time Our client is an independent games development studio founded 2008 in the cultural heart of Southeast Asia. They are a game tech focused studio with both internal OIP (Original Intellectual Property) and external co-development tracks. They build games over multiple platforms, primarily focused on Windows Desktop PC (Unreal Engine). Their flagship and breakout is a fully serviced live operational squad based multiplayer PvP (Player-Versus-Player) 5v5 (Five-Versus-Five) FPS (First-Person-Shooter) and RTS (Real-Time-Strategy) hybrid action combat game launched in 2021. Our client provides full cycle work for hire, co-development, consulting, backend development, and virtual production support disciplines across all departments both internally and externally. Today, they are a team of 60 full-time internal developers and growing. They are committed to be wholly involved in developing digital interactive entertainment software and remain passionately strong. Responsibilities : Our client is on the lookout for great full-time talents in Real-Time 3D Character Art Asset development to join their ever growing development team. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with their core team in producing consistently believable, stylistically accurate, platform and engine optimized 3D characters in their many internal and external projects. Work alongside their team and project stakeholders in constructing visually accurate and appealing assets, in-lined with the project’s visual direction, be it organic, hard surfaced, or hybrid type characters and creatures, within technical specifications while meeting calendar and milestone demands. Develop convincing characters, utilizing strong art fundamentals, knowledge across multiple disciplines and software in constructing all manner of characters, creatures, animals, robots, etc. accurately, with respect to the project’s concept designs, while maintaining its technical constraints and boundaries. Work closely with multiple disciplines, in designing, planning, and ascertaining accurate production estimates, to identify any potential pitfalls during development. In ensuring consistent delivery of virtually believable characters, that invoke emotional responses from their players. Team and Personal Responsibilities

Good interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills, is able to effectively liaise over various disciplines, and stakeholders across different project and approval stages. Experienced, or keen to learn and improve new pipeline and production practices through iterative development methodologies, be it traditional or agile workflows. Constantly familiarizing and keeping updated with current industry standards, trends, pipelines, and software to effectively and consistently hit higher graphical benchmarks.

The Requirements

Core Requirements

Experience in 3D Software (Pixologic ZBrush, Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, etc.) Experience in 2D Software (Adobe Photoshop, Substance Painter, Designer etc.) Experience with Unreal Engine 4, and or 5 (and above). Experience in Version Control Software (SVN, Git, Perforce, etc.). Experience in Game Art Asset Pipeline (High-Poly, Low-Poly, Baking, etc.) Experience in Traditional and or Agile work environments and methodologies. Proficiency in Human and Creature Anatomy, Hard-Surface and Organic Sculpting. Good observational skills and keen attention to detail in replicating concepts into 3D assets. Ability to understand complex multi-state design(s) for assets needing animation. Ability to self assess, profile, improve, and optimize in-game 3D assets. Knowledgeable in a typical game development cycle. Is Proficient in English, verbal and written.

Supplementary Skills

Experience in Cloth Simulation, and or Sculpting. Experience in Character Prop Development (Weapon, Armor, Skins, etc.). Experience in Realistic (PBR), and or Stylized Texture Workflows.

Experience in Unreal Material and Shader development and integration. Experience in Peripheral Character Pipeline Disciplines (Concept, Prop, VFX, etc.). Good observational skills in body mechanics and industrial design. Experience in optimizing forvarious hardware and platforms (Mobile, Console, PC, etc.). Experience in Modular, and or Trimmed Asset Pipeline Development. Experience in In-Game Post Processing tools (Unreal Engine). Experience in Rigging for In-Game Animation (Traditional, Skeletal Mesh, Lyra, etc.). Experience in Character Facial Setup (Traditional, Blend Shapes, MetaHuman, etc.). Experience in Character Technical Art Development (Pipeline, Dev Tools, Integration, etc.). The Rank Requirements :

Junior / Fresh Graduate 3D Character Artist

Possesses a good understanding of anatomy and silhouette when creating characters. Alongside a sufficient portfolio showcasing in-game 3D characters using industry standard software(s) and game engine(s). Previous work showcases stylistic consistency, and imaginative use of geometry, texture, materials, and lighting to create visually appealing and game ready 3D character assets.

Intermediate 3D Character Artist

Solid experience and demonstrated ability in 3D character development, consistent delivery of assets that meet project requirements, both technically and stylistically. Decent knowledge in in-game technical practices. Have at least been credited with one title launch, with preferably a minimum of three to four years of industry experience.

Senior 3D Character Artist

Excellent knowledge and demonstrated consistency in developing visually stunning 3D characters and creatures across multiple project styles, and its technical requirements. Ability to document workflows, improve pipelines, and mentor new staff. Exceptional understanding of form, able to visualize, plan and develop complex characters with minimal concept support. Have at least been credited with two or more game title launches, with preferably a minimum of five to six years of industry experience.

Exceptional proficiencies in 3D character development, consistent demonstration in developing visually immaculate 3D characters throughout various high profile projects. Strong technical and in-engine optimization proficiency, with a sharp eye for artistic fidelity and detail. Able to benchmark, and document processes, while maintaining the standard of delivery. Excellent working knowledge in Unreal Engine, and other supplementary 2D / 3D tools. Have at least been credited with three or more game title launches, with preferably a minimum of eight to ten years of industry experience. Lead 3D Character Artist

Excellent background in 3D character development coupled with strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills. Ability to fully understand and breakdown project requirements, and work closely with all disciplines in maintaining timely delivery of 3D asset deliverables to their respective stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in delegating and maintaining project 3D asset standards, while adapting, and iterating across a variety of artistic styles. Wide knowledge of technical constraints, optimization and implementation to determine the best tools and techniques in hitting project visual targets. Have at least been credited with two or more game title launches, with preferably a minimum of five to six years of industry experience.
