About the role :

This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a Risk and Compliance Associate. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the organization's risk management and compliance efforts, playing a crucial part in ensuring the company's operations adhere to industry regulations and standards. The position is based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

What you'll be doing :

1) To report directly to the General Manager of Finance.

2) To Review and validate monthly financial reports submitted by Regional Managers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the company standards. Details of the area are as follows :

  • Procedure Compliance : Ensure financial reports adhere to company policies and provide guidance for corrective action when necessary;
  • Communication : Collaborate with Regional Managers to enhance financial report accuracy and compliance, offering support and addressing issues;
  • Reporting : Prepare summary reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key findings and addressing areas of concern when needed;
  • Process Improvement : Continuously enhance financial reporting processes, including fund transfer and compliance procedures, to boost operational efficiency.

3) Governance & Compliance Checks :

  • Review payment memos to ensure compliance with the Limit of Authority (LOA), approval requirements, and company policies.
  • Validate vendor details, including bank account information, and confirm the applicability of WHT and SST. Maintain a central compliance tracker.
  • 4) LOA Matrix Oversight :

  • Maintain and update the LOA matrix, ensuring proper documentation of all approvals and escalation procedures.
  • Prepare monthly compliance reports highlighting adherence and any breaches.
  • 5) Vendor, Tender & Payment Validation :

  • Review and validate changes to vendor master data with supporting documentation.
  • Support vendor reconciliations by checking major balances and identifying anomalies.
  • Oversee tender documentation to ensure compliance with procurement policies and maintain transparent evaluation records.
  • Track WHT / SST deadlines to ensure timely filings.
  • 6) Contract & Governance Support :

  • Assist the GM Finance in reviewing contracts, focusing on LOA compliance, financial terms, and risk exposure.
  • Prepare governance documentation, checklists, and support Board / FGAC submissions.
  • Provide administrative assistance on company secretarial matters, liaising with the appointed CoSec as required.
  • 7) Audit Trail & Internal Audit Liaison :

  • Maintain governance documentation including LOA records, vendor validation logs, tender trackers, and contract review notes.
  • Prepare governance and compliance reports for GM Finance review.
  • Act as the primary liaison with internal auditors, providing documentation, responses, and follow-up actions.
  • 8) Cross-Functional & Regional Compliance :

  • Coordinate with regional managers on statutory compliance issues in their respective countries, escalating to GM Finance as required.
  • Provide financial data analysis and insights to support management and Board reporting.
  • 9) Financial Policy & Controls :

  • Support the development and implementation of governance and compliance policies to strengthen internal controls and ensure audit readiness.
  • 10) Other Duties :

  • You will be expected to assist with the work of others employed at MPOC as and when necessary and when called upon to do so.
  • What we're looking for :

  • Preference for the candidate with Degree in Accountancy / Finance or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of audit firm experience, preferably with group consolidation.
  • Well-versed in financial reporting and internal controls, with strong knowledge of MFRS and SOX
  • Good command of English and Bahasa.
  • Proficient in handling Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Good interpersonal, negotiating, time management and leadership skill.
  • Able to communicate with all levels of people.
  • Well organized, detailed, analytical, systematic and conscious on time, cost and quality.
  • Trustworthy in keeping company's confidential matters and trade secrets.
