Overview
The SMT Engineer is responsible for managing, optimizing, and improving SMT production processes to ensure high yield, efficiency, and product quality. This role involves process setup, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of SMT operations, while coordinating with cross-functional teams in quality, equipment, and planning to support smooth production and New Product Introduction (NPI). Key Responsibilities
Setup, monitor, and optimize SMT processes including stencil printing, pick & place, reflow soldering, SPI, AOI, and X-ray inspection. Analyze and troubleshoot SMT defects (tombstoning, bridging, voids, misalignment, etc.). Lead or participate in yield improvement, cycle time reduction, and cost optimization projects. Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure process readiness for mass production. Develop, update, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for SMT processes. Apply quality and process control tools such as DOE, SPC, FMEA, 8D, and root cause analysis to drive improvements. Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and R&D teams to ensure compliance with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and ESD / MSD standards. Conduct regular audits and ensure adherence to EHS and quality requirements. Maintain documentation and reporting of process performance and improvement activities. Education
