Your Role

Mighty Jaxx is looking for a Concept Artist KL - based to ideate and drive the visual development of our collectible products. Reporting to an Art Director, you will work collaboratively with the marketing, production, and broader design teams to conceptualise and bring unique and compelling collectibles to life. You will play a key role in shaping the visual style and direction of our products, ensuring they meet market expectations and production standards.

Responsibilities

Concept Art & Design

  • Create innovative and detailed concept art in a range of stylisations for toy production, with strong drawing skills required to present product designs in orthographic views.
  • Work closely with art directors to deliver toy concepts that meet production requirements and market expectations.
  • Stay informed on broader collectible trends and fandoms, incorporating these insights into creative work.

Collaboration & Quality Assurance

  • Collaborate with 3D designers, providing feedback to ensure designs translate well from concept to final production.
  • Collaborate with the team to check product samples from factories to ensure they meet the desired aesthetic and quality standards during the quality assurance process.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including marketing and production, to ensure cohesive product presentation.

    • Industry Knowledge & Trends

  • Maintain a strong interest in popular intellectual properties and fandoms across mediums such as Anime, Games, Comics, and Music.
  • Stay deeply engaged with fandom communities and the broader toys and collectibles scene to ensure relevance and appeal in designs.
  • Ensure that designs align with current industry trends and market demands for collectibles.

    • Requirements

  • Experience in concept art with a focus on character design.
  • Proficiency in 2D illustration programs such as Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, SAI, Procreate, or Krita.
  • Attention to detail and a strong understanding of illustration fundamentals such as style, anatomy, design principles, and colour theory.
  • Ability to communicate ideas, interpret feedback, and collaborate effectively with other team members.
  • Knowledge of making physical products such as 3D printing, painting, and manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with 3D sculpting tools, workflows, and terminology is a bonus.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator is a bonus.
  • Experience in the toy and collectibles industry is a bonus.
  • Passion for fandom communities and the broader toys and collectibles industry.
